Camping in Ars-en-Ré: wild beaches with a unique atmosphere
Choosing a campsite in Ars-en-Ré means being close to one of the island’s characteristic landscapes: its wild coastline. It is 100 km long and consists of fine sandy beaches with no buildings on them. Places to stroll, bask and admire the natural surroundings. At low tide, some sites reveal a rocky foreshore that is home to a rich biodiversity. Depending on the tidal range, you can try your hand at shore fishing to discover the island’s natural resources in a whole new way. As for the dunes, true barriers against winds and tides, they constitute a relief that plays a fundamental role in protecting the island’s enchanting natural setting. Over 30 km long, with a rich flora, they offer exceptional views of the coast. Groupe Romanée campsites in Ars-en-Ré(Le Cormoran, Les Dunes) each have direct access to a beach. They are located near Radia beach and its surrounding forest. Nearby, you’ll also find the Grange beach and the Pointe de Grignon, a superb spot for admiring the sunsets. Beautiful, intimate beaches in the surrounding area are just a few minutes away by bike or car.
Camping in Ars-en-Ré in the heart of the salt marshes
Another of the Île de Ré’s authentic landscapes, the salt marshes are easily accessible from our Ars-en-Ré campsites. An opportunity to find out more about the work of the sauniers, who perpetuate techniques inherited from the Middle Ages, and their precious production. In this iodized setting, you can observe a wide variety of fauna (egrets, geese or shelducks depending on the season) and enjoy the incomparable light at the end of the day when the sun’s rays reflect on the ponds operated by the salt marshes. In addition to visiting the producers who open their doors, you can also opt for a visit to the Écomusée du marais salant, which features an exhibition followed by a guided tour of a working marsh.
Camping in Ars-en-Ré: in the shade of the woods
Our campsites in Ars-en-Ré are located near the La Combe à l’eau national forest. This is where you can benefit from the shade provided by the maritime pines planted in the mid-20th century to fix the dunes. Softwoods and holm oaks complete the landscape, which is home to numerous species of birds and amphibians. There are three other classified forest areas on the island (Le Lizay, Trousse-Chemise, Le Bois Henri IV). You can walk, cycle or even ride. There are special itineraries to help you appreciate the diversity and enjoy a peaceful moment.
Ile-de-Ré: nature preserved and protected

Close to our Ars-en-Ré campsites, you can discover the Lilleau des Niges national nature reserve, home to thousands of migratory and sedentary birds every year. Next door is the Maison du Fier. Housed in a former salt shed, this museum is dedicated to the island’s natural heritage. Passionate animators share their knowledge through workshops, games, guided tours and twilight outings.
Ars-en-Ré: nature in the city
Our campsites in Ars-en-Ré are just a stone’s throw from the center of this village, listed as one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages”, and its emblematic 15th-century bell tower. In this area, characterized by small white houses with green shutters, nature can be appreciated as you stroll along the cobbled lanes decorated with a multitude of hollyhocks. The commune is also an excellent starting point for discovering the Fier d’Ars, an 800-hectare bay surrounded by marshes, thanks to the many water sports on offer.
